Fancy an atmospheric outdoor fire but aren't a fan of smoke or flying ash? The all-black MOON 45 fire pit with high stand from höfats brings warmth, atmosphere and innovation to your garden or patio. Thanks to its wood gasification technology, this fire pit creates an impressive display of flames – virtually smoke-free and with minimal ash residue.
When burning pellets, the fire pit can burn for up to 2 hours without producing smoke. Wood logs can also be used. The fire pit is easy to assemble (without tools), stands securely on a high cast-iron stand and is easy to clean thanks to the removable ash tray. And with the optional stainless steel stand, you can turn it into an even taller fire bowl.

Smoke-free flame effect
MOON uses advanced wood gasification: rising wood particles are burned in a second stage, producing virtually no smoke. The flames from the perforated circle beneath the opening merge with the fire from the heart of the fire pit, creating an impressive, almost endless sea of flames.

MOON is the first höfats fire basket that can do both: burn wood for that classic campfire feel, or use pellets for up to two hours of continuous, smoke-free fire without refilling.

How the wood gasifier works
Smokeless fire is the highest art and becomes a reality with MOON. The double wall, consisting of an inner and an outer shell, is the decisive factor here.
Upon entry, the airflow splits into three parts.
- The first two heat the fuel in the heart of the fire basket via the ash tray.
- The third part of the airflow rises between the inner and outer shells, is heated along the way, and comes out through the perforated circle under the opening.
- A second combustion phase takes place here, in which even the smallest wood particles are efficiently burned and especially when using pellets, a smokeless flame is created.

Fill the MOON with pellets, leaving the perforated circle under the opening clear (approximately 10-12 kg of pellets).

FAQs
What is the difference between MOON and MOON All Black?
The MOON all black has a completely black appearance thanks to a PVD-coated mouthpiece and high post, while the classic MOON retains the stainless steel look for both the mouthpiece and high post. In both versions, the mouthpiece develops a unique coloration over time due to the heat during use.
Which pellets should I use?
We recommend using pellets with the ENplus or DINplus quality seals. The exact type of wood used for the pellets is of secondary importance.
On which surfaces can MOON be used?
In general, fire bowls may only be used on fireproof surfaces such as stone, concrete or sand, and at least 3 metres away from flammable or heat-sensitive materials. MOON with a high base provides more clearance from the ground and can also be placed on other surfaces at your own discretion. MOON must not be placed under roofs, trees or similar coverings. Even after being extinguished, wood or pellet ash can continue to glow for several hours.
When does the mouthpiece develop its unique coloration?
The patina that colours the mouthpiece and gives MOON its unique appearance develops from the very first use. It changes with every use and is created by the heat generated during use. It forms on both the silver and black mouthpieces.
Can I also use MOON indoors?
No, the fire basket is only suitable for outdoor use. If you use pellets there, you can enjoy a smoke-free fire that prevents unpleasant odors and problems with the neighbors.
